2023-10-07 The Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. The Grand Duchess Maria of Russia, H.I.H. Tsesarevich and Grand Duke George of Russia, and his spouse H.S.H. Princess Victoria Romanovna attended the wedding of the Maria Francisca de Braganza

Infanta Maria Francisca of Braganza, Duchess of Coimbra, and Duarte de Sousa Araújo Martins were married on October 7, 2023. The bride is the daughter of H.R.H. Duarte Pio, Duke of Braganza and Head of the Royal House of Portugal.

The wedding ceremony took place in the Basilica of Our Lady and Saint Anthony of Mafra in the Palace of Mafra—the largest royal palace in Portugal, built between 1717 and 1730 by King John V the Magnanimous of Portugal (r. 1706-1750). The service was officiated by Manuel José Macário do Nascimento Clemente, Metropolitan Patriarch of Lisbon from 2013 to 2023.

Attending the wedding at the personal invitation of the Head of the Portuguese Royal House, were the Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. The Grand Duchess Maria of Russia, her son and Heir H.I.H. The Tsesarevich and Grand Duke George of Russia, and his spouse, H.S.H. Princess Victoria Romanovna.

Also attending the wedding were the President of Portugal, Marcelo Nuno Duarte Rebelo de Sousa, and the Heads and members of many of the Imperial and Royal Houses of Europe, the Middle East, and Brazil.
