The Head of the Imperial House of Russia, H.I.H. the Grand Duchess Maria of Russia, and her son and heir, H.I.H. the Grand Duke George of Russia, were deeply saddened to learn of the death of the great Russian painter, Ilya Sergeevich Glazunov. They extend their sincerest condolences to his children, relatives, and friends, and pray for the repose of his soul. Their Imperial Highnesses recognized and esteemed Ilya Sergeevich’s enormous artistic talent and his contribution to the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of Russia. Every time that Grand Duchess Maria and Grand Duke George have occasion to visit the Russian embassy in Spain, the interior of which was designed by Ilya Glazunov, they always recall warmly the several meetings they had with him in Russia. May the Lord receive the soul of the newly departed servant of God, Ilya, in His Kingdom.
