The Head of the House of Romanoff expresses her condolences on the death of the People’s Artist of the USSR, Vladimir Zeldin

FROM THE HEAD OF THE RUSSIAN IMPERIAL HOUSE

It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of the great and talented Russian actor, Vladimir Mikhailovich Zeldin.

Vladimir Zeldin was one of the most outstanding figures in the Russian theatrical and cinematic world.  He was a kind, cheerful, wise, and beloved man, a man of reflection, and a talented role model for the younger generation.  He always set an example of optimism, patriotism, humility, perseverance in the face of adversities, amiability, and respect for others.  Having lived a long and full life, more than a century, Vladimir Mikhailovich Zeldin was a living symbol of continuity across time and across generations.

The images he created in his many film and theatrical roles have become an indelible part of Russian culture.

I and my son and heir, the Grand Duke George of Russia, send our deepest condolences to his widow, his family, all his friends, and to all the devoted fans of this remarkable and irreplaceable national talent.

May the Lord grant rest to his servant Vladimir in the abode of the righteous.
