The founder of Russia’s first Children’s Hospice and the General Director of the Imperial Foundation for Cancer Research, Archpriest Alexander Tkachenko, and the Director of the Foundation “Fair Help,” Elizaveta Glinka, are awarded the State Prize of

Presidential Decree Awarding the State Prize of the Russian Federation for Human Rights and Philanthropy

President Vladimir Putin has today signed a Presidential Decree awarding the “State Prize of the Russian Federation for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Human Rights” and the “State Prize of the Russian Federation for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Philanthropy.”

Here follows the text of the decree:

December 8, 2016

Having considered the proposal of the Public Commission of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation identifying candidates for the State Prize of the Russian Federation for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Human Rights and candidates for the State Prize of the Russian Federation for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Philanthropy, I hereby decree:

1. To award the 2016 State Prize of the Russian Federation for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Human Rights, and further to grant the honorary title of Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Human Rights, to Elizabeth Petrovna Glinka, Executive Director of international non-profit NGO “Fair Aid.”

2. To award the 2016 the Prize of the Russian Federation for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Philanthropy, and further to grant the awardee the honorary title of Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Philanthropy, to Archpriest Alexander Evgenievich Tkachenko, General Director of the independent non-profit organization “Children’s Hospice.”

The Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. the Grand Duchess Maria of Russia, and H.I.H. the Heir, Tsesarevich, and Grand Duke George of Russia, extend their heartfelt congratulations to Fr. Alexander Tkachenko on this well-deserved award and wish him God’s help in his future service to the Holy Church, the nation, and to all those—young children struggling with serious illnesses, their parents, doctors and other medical professionals—to whose care and support Fr. Alexander has dedicated his life.

Their Imperial Highness also congratulate Elizabeth Petrovna Glinka, whose work to protect and defend human rights they very deeply respect and support.  The Head of the House of Romanoff and her Heir pray that the Lord will bless and keep Elizabeth Glinka and will grant her the strength to continue the vitally important and noble mission that she has taken upon herself.
