Your Majesty,

It was with enormous sadness that I learned of the death of His Majesty King Rama IX the Great.

I and my son Grand Duke George extend to you, the members of the Royal Family, and all the people of Thailand our deepest and most sincere condolences.

Over the course of a glorious reign of more than 70 years, King Rama IX made an enormous contribution to the history of Thailand and of the entire world. His efforts to bring prosperity and unity to his country, and to foster peace and cooperation between nations and peoples, will forever be remembered by all mankind.

The Russian people living both in Russia and around the world will always remember and appreciate King Rama IX’s genuine affection for our country and for its cultural heritage, his support for the development of diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations between our two countries, and his protection and support of the Orthodox Christian community in Thailand.

I fervently pray for the welfare of your Royal House and for the preservation of the legacy of newly-reposed monarch, King Rama IX the Great.
