2015-10-08 Grand Duke George of Russia visits St. Petersburg and Moscow, September 29 – October 7, 2015
On September 29 – October 7, 2015, His Imperial Highness, the Heir, Tsesarevich, and Grand Duke George of Russia, traveled to Russia. His Imperial Highness spent most of this time in St. Petersburg, but also traveled to Moscow for one day in order to attend the 6th Congress of Russian Pediatric Oncologists.
On September 29, the Grand Duke arrived in St. Petersburg from Brussels. That evening, he met with the Director of the Chancellery of the Imperial House, Alexander N. Zakatov, and with the General Director of the Imperial Foundation for Cancer Research, Archpriest Alexander Tkachenko.
On September 30, on the feast day of Saints Faith, Hope, and Charity, and their mother, Sophia, the Grand Duke, accompanied by Alexander Zakatov, went to the Church of the Nativity of St. John the Forerunner and Baptist in the Suvorov Military Academy, which is located in the former Vorontsov Palace. There, His Imperial Highness the Grand Duke George of Russia met with His Most Eminent Highness Fra’ Matthew Festing, the Prince and Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta (the Order of Malta).
